Don't' compete, create! Create your own markets . I opened my studio in Brenham in 1976, competing with one studio, a third generation photographer who claimed to be the oldest studio in Texas. My business grew quickly. The other studio claimed I was stealing his clients. Seven years later, the owner came to me wanting to sell me his business. He told me he had done about $170,000 in business every year for the last 10 years. I stopped him right there, Then I haven't stole any of your business if your volume has stayed constant for the last 10 years, I've created my own! Don't do just like the other studios in town only cheaper. Be different! Create your own products. Create your own customers. Create your own style.
